Our friendly staff of care workers come from all walks of life.
They may be housewives returning to work now the kids have grown up; students looking to earn money to fund their student loans; hairdressers simply looking for a change of career; cleaners who feel they could do more for their clients. Or, they might be experienced carers who have looked after their own loved ones for years.
Now let’s be honest. Care work is not for everyone, but those who choose to stay have one thing in common: they care about people. They really care. They want to make a difference to the lives of people who can often find themselves feeling lonely, isolated and perhaps vulnerable. And sometimes all it takes is one of these…
Choosing a career is tough. There is so much to choose from – and often you can’t imagine what it may be like.
So how about this.
Remember what it felt like to leave your Grandparents smiling. Did you get a warm glow? Did the simple memory of it make you feel a bit tingly and make you wish you could see them more often?
Well wouldn’t you like to feel like that every day? (ok … most days!)
Then choosing a career in care work and looking after older people in their own familiar surroundings could be right up your street.
That’s exactly what Chloe did
Chloe joined as one of our youngest care workers at 19 years of age. She tells us how choosing a career in care work has changed her whole outlook on life and turned her into a more confident and positive person.
Go to our News page and read her story.
Now let’s think about that one. For a start, how often do you wipe yours? 🙂
There are quite a few myths about care work – and that has to be the biggest!
Keep an eye on our News updates as we will be taking a look at some of those in the weeks and months ahead.
We offer excellent rates of pay for experienced care workers with NVQ or H&SC Diplomas Level 2 or Level 3 and are especially interested in those qualified in the field of Dementia and End of Life care.
We do not send our Care Workers here, there and everywhere. We only cover GU9 & GU10, with the occasional smattering of GU12. Our talented care co-ordinators know the importance of creating runs that ensure the maximum amount of your time is spent with our Clients – not driving between them! We also offer tax free mileage allowance so you are not out of pocket because of fuel costs or vehicle wear and tear.
Two Counties Care is an equal opportunities employer and promotes the human rights of our staff as well as our clients.
We recognise that our staff need to be excellent so that we can deliver the highest level of service. We therefore invest in the continual professional development of our staff and actively encourage vocational training in Health & Social Care Awards, Certificates and Diplomas. Most of our staff have either achieved or will be working towards a formal qualification of some kind, including specialist knowledge in Dementia care.
We are an active member of the Skills for Care core team (SE Surrey) in order to understand and influence the latest initiatives and opportunities in vocational training. Working closely with our local training provider Professional Training Solutions, a member of the same Core Team, we tailor our training and development programmes to meet the needs of our Clients.
We strongly believe in the need for career opportunities to be created that inspire younger people to join the Home Care sector and get the most out of their carer jobs. Opportunities that will open doors for future progression into other areas of both Health and Social Care.
We equally encourage older people to become care workers, a role to which they can bring a unique wealth of life experience and a natural affinity for supporting the needs of other people in their community.
Two Counties Care is always on the look out for people who will make ideal care workers – experienced or otherwise.
We welcome applications from people of all ages and cultures who believe they can make a difference to the lives and well-being of the people we support in our community.
